STEVIE MACKIE Lighting and Set Design
Stevie was born in Scotland, and early in his career he discovered the playground that is “theatre”, and after a long and notable spell working worldwide with west-end and broadway shows such as 'Tap Dogs', and 'Kat and the Kings', as well as a 12 month arena tour 'La Luna' with Sarah Brightman in the USA, he jumped off the tour bus to join Birmingham Royal Ballet as ‘Deputy Head of Lighting, working with Sir David Bintley on ‘Penguin Café , ’Carmina Burana’ and ‘Arthur Parts 1 & 2’, as well as a full repertoire of classical and contemporary work at home, and touring in the UK and worldwide.
Stevie’s Theatre lighting design credits include ‘Carnival of the Animals’, ‘Concerto for Two’, ‘Lately Undone’, ‘Present Fears’ and ‘Unfinished Sympathy’ (Birmingham Royal Ballet); ‘1984’, ‘The Odyssey’, ‘The Great Gatsby’, ‘Macbeth’ US Tour, ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ (Aquila Theatre); ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’ (English National Ballet, West-end & UK tour); ‘Boxes’ (Purple Theatre/Nottingham Playhouse); 'Jenny Lee- Tomorrow is a New Day' (Knights Theatre)
Recently, Stevie has been recreating ‘The Four Seasons’ (UK & Europe tour) for James Wilton Dance and Max Richter, and re-lighting the ‘STOMP’ Worldwide Tour. He is currently lighting designer and head of production for ‘Ballet Nights’ which features dancers from The Royal Ballet and Studio Wayne McGregor, as well as artists from English National Ballet.
Stevie's work has taken him to many countries including Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, Scandinavia and extensively all across the UK, Europe and the USA.
